Before The Simpsons was a 30-minute television show, it was a series of shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show. Because of this, these three seasons of shorts are sometimes known as the Tracey Ullman Shorts ^[1]. Most people prefer to call them the Simpsons Shorts.

While almost all the main characters are present in the Simpsons Shorts, they are much more crudely drawn and there are other minor differences in their appearance. For most of the shorts, they also lack depth of character, which is natural considering that they were only created for these shorts, not the full-length series that they would eventually appear and grow in.

Each Simpsons Short ran about one minute.
